Burnley ended their preseason with a narrow 1-0 defeat to Lazio at Turf Moor, in a game that showed both promise and areas for improvement ahead of the Premier League opener against Tottenham Hotspur.
The Clarets started brightly, dominating the game and creating big chances through Oliver Sonne and Josh Cullen. However, the finishing touch was missing, allowing the visitors to stay in the game.
In the second half, Lazio increased the pressure. Max Weiss produced a penalty save to keep the match level, but the Italian side struck on a quick counter after a failed Burnley set piece.
